Celebrating 10 Sweet Years

This year, we are proud to celebrate 10 years of Yarra Valley Cherries - a decade of growing, hand-picking, packing, and sharing premium cherries with our community here in Victoria.

While the orchard itself has deep roots reaching back to 1993, the Yarra Valley Cherries brand was born ten years ago with a clear vision: to grow exceptional cherries with integrity, care, and connection to our land. Today, as we look back, we’re grateful for how far we’ve come - and excited for what the future holds.

Our Orchard, Our Story

Our home in Seville, surrounded by the Warramate Hills and sheltered by the Dandenong Ranges, offers a unique micro-climate and rich Silurian soil - ideal conditions that help us grow cherries with incredible flavour, crunch, and colour.

Across our orchard we now care for approximately 20,000 cherry trees and more than 35 varieties, allowing us to offer fruit from early November right through to Christmas. But numbers only tell part of the story. Every cherry that leaves our orchard is the result of careful pruning, nurturing, monitoring, and - when the season arrives - hand-picking at just the right moment.

A Decade of Quality & Craft

From day one, our commitment has always been to deliver premium cherries, picked at their prime and carefully handled every step of the way.

Over the past ten years, we’ve invested in state-of-the-art technology such as our high-definition electronic grading system, which photographs each cherry multiple times to check size, colour, and imperfections. But even with advanced equipment, it’s our people - pickers, graders, packers, drivers, and everyone who supports our orchard - who bring the season to life.

Every morning during harvest, our team is out at first light. Cherries are hand-picked, hydro-cooled, graded, packed on site, and moved quickly to cold storage at around 3°C to maintain peak freshness and flavour. This integrated approach allows us to keep everything local, controlled, and true to the standard our customers expect.

Leading the Way in Sustainability

One of our proudest achievements this decade has been becoming Australia’s only cherry orchard certified as carbon-neutral under the Climate Active program.

This certification reflects years of work - measuring, reducing, and offsetting our emissions, improving energy efficiency, and managing our land responsibly. Alongside our Freshcare, SEDEX, and HARPS accreditations, this commitment ensures that when you choose Yarra Valley Cherries, you’re choosing cherries that are grown with care for both people and planet.

Celebrations, Community & the Years Ahead

Ten years gives us plenty to celebrate:

• Introducing new cherry varieties to extend our season
• Sharing our cherries in premium gift boxes, farm-gate offerings, collaborations, and events
• Growing our online store and delivering cherries across Melbourne

But this milestone is also about looking forward.

We’re continuing to trial new varieties, refine our farm-gate experience, explore new sustainability innovations, and ensure we keep offering the freshest, highest-quality cherries every season.
